A picture of a lockGood news I believe is on the way. WordPress is changing its platform to improve security. It is working on a project to upgrade all of its websites to the status of HTTPS instead of the traditional HTTP.

If you look at your address bar above you wil see that facebook is a https://www.facebook.com etc.

This is good news for site ranking as Google is currently favouring website that are HTTPS more because they have a higher levels of Security (see here for more info http://www.biztechmagazine.com/article/2007/07/http-vs-http)

I was hoping WordPress would do something as web hosts wanted to charge for a domain security certificate per year and also per domain – which just adds more and more cost to running a website. I have written about this practice before. So we will watch this upcoming change with interest.
